White Sangria
White wine sangria is very popular in Spain, especially on hot days. Where red wine can be a bit heavy, white wine is crisp, clear and refreshing. White wine also gives the visual beauty of the fruit within - you can see them floating around in your drink!
This white sangria recipe involves a bit of cooking - so be sure to plan ahead!
For the wine, this authentically should have a Spanish white. French styles also tend to go well - your aim here is for a dry white, not a buttery Chardonnay.
Ingredients
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
6 short cinnamon sticks
1 750ml bottle white wine
1 cup sparkling water
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup orange juice
2 oranges, in wedges
10 cherries
2 apples, in chunks
This white sangria recipe requires a bit of preparation!
Heat the water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks until they're simmering. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat. Cool back down to room temperature.
Pull out the sticks, and mix in all remaining ingredients. Chill overnight. Pour your white sangria over ice the next day, and enjoy!
To turn this into a single-glass recipe, a typical assumption is that one 750ml bottle of wine yields four large glasses of wine. Divide all ingredients shown by four. I'm not sure if I would bother with all this work for just one glass, though - it's probably best to make the full batch and just savor it over a few days!

Note: I created these sangria recipes and have had them online for years. If you find similar sangria recipes elsewhere, it's because someone copied my idea. I do appreciate it when visitors write in to warn me about the plagiarism - but usually there's not much I can do about it! What's really funny is when they copy my design right down to my sangria pitcher. That's a bit much :)
